DSHS WSH Office Assistant 3

This role is at Western State Hospital (WSH), in Lakewood, WA. You will assume a wide range of day-to-day responsibilities, all of which support and provide technical assistance to the social work department as needed. This position ensures the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of patient discharge and transfer documentation. The OA3 coordinates documentation between treatment teams, community partners, and hospital leadership to support safe and efficient patient transitions and continuity of care. This position plays a key role in maintaining compliance with legal, regulatory, and hospital requirements related to patient discharge and placement processes. This position is essential to the safe and timely discharge of patients from Western State Hospital.

Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Some of what you will do:

  • Provides comprehensive administrative support to the Social Work Discharge Team by preparing, processing, and organizing discharge-related documentation
  • Processing discharge paperwork and referral packets
  • Tracking required documentation, forms, and signatures
  • Coordinating documentation between treatment teams and external partners
  • Maintaining organized discharge files and patient records
  • Ensuring time-sensitive paperwork is completed and distributed appropriately
  • This work directly supports patient transitions and helps prevent delays in discharge processing
What we are looking for:
  • Professionals with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of clerical or administrative experience, typing, filing, and telephone coverage
Preferred applicant:
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Positively contribute to a diverse and effective team environment
  • Remain focused and motivated while performing multiple, repetitive assignments
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
