DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Harborview Behavioral Health Institute (BHI) is a program of Harborview Medical Center that is dedicated to advancing innovation, research and clinical practice in community behavioral health. The BHI Pillars of Clinical Services, Training, Policy and Workforce Development, and Research and Program Evaluation are focused on innovative practices that improve access to effective behavioral health care. The BHI is led and staffed by Harborview Medical Center clinical staff and faculty from the UW Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
The Senior Marketing, Communications & Outreach Specialist provides leadership for execution of marketing, communications, and outreach functions for the King County Crisis Training Academy (KC-CTA) and the broader Behavioral Health Institute (BHI) Training, Workforce, and Policy Innovation Center portfolio. This position is responsible for managing communications systems, workflows, and digital platforms that support outreach, engagement, and dissemination of information across multiple initiatives.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and execute marketing, communications, and outreach activities for the King County Crisis Training Academy (KC-CTA) and other Behavioral Health Institute (BHI) and related initiatives in collaboration with leadership
- Develop, edit, and manage communications and outreach materials for trainings, conferences, webinars, and workforce initiatives
- Manage content across digital platforms (email, webpages, outreach materials), ensuring consistent messaging, tone, branding, and accessibility
- Coordinate outreach efforts to drive participation and engagement across behavioral health and social service systems
- Maintain and update webpages using Content Management System tools (e.g., WordPress), ensuring accuracy and alignment with institutional branding guidelines
- Manage Learning Management Software content, including course updates, announcements, and learner experience; develop asynchronous materials using authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Rise 360)
- Collaborate with project staff and subject matter experts to produce, format, and maintain training and educational content
- Manage email campaigns (e.g., Mailchimp), including list management, scheduling, and performance tracking; develop targeted communications for diverse audiences
- Coordinate production, organization, and publication of video and multimedia content (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo), ensuring accessibility standards (captioning, transcripts) and quality
- Design and administer surveys and evaluation tools (e.g., REDCap) and analyze engagement metrics
- Prepare reports, summaries, and briefing materials on communications, outreach, and participation outcomes for leadership and stakeholders
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public health, behavioral health, education, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in marketing, communications, digital content, outreach, or related roles.
- Experience managing and executing communications and outreach activities across multiple platforms (e.g., email, web, LMS, social media, and video).
- Experience managing email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, including campaign development, audience segmentation, and performance tracking.
- Experience managing and maintaining webpages using content management systems such as WordPress.
- Experience managing or maintaining learning management systems (LMS) and/or developing digital learning content.
- Experience coordinating and managing video content workflows, including editing, uploading, and maintaining content across platforms such as Vimeo or YouTube.
- Experience coordinating production of captions and transcripts to meet accessibility standards.
- Experience developing or managing surveys and evaluation tools using platforms such as REDCap or similar systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and exercise professional judgment in managing communications workflows and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to apply trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices across communications and outreach efforts.
