UW Medicine IT Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Student Assistant – IT Services People & Culture.
WORK SCHEDULE
- HYBRID opportunity, requiring a minimum of 2 in-office days a week, Monday – Wednesday
- Our office is in the University District.
- 16 – 19.5 hours per week
- Student Assistants are expected to work during ITS business hours, which is between 7AM and 5PM, Monday – Friday. The exact schedule will be determined based on current course load/schedule with adjustments made as quarterly classes change

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.
Student Assistant – IT Services People & Culture
UW Medicine IT Services Operations has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time, day shift Student Assistant to provide administrative assistance for IT Services operations and initiatives within the team. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a strong interest in learning administrative operations and programs that focus on employees.
This position will assist with general administrative duties to support the Senior Director, ITS Operations and the People & Culture Team including, but not limited to, employee engagement initiatives, communications and correspondence, projects, reports, presentations, and meeting/event support.
- Assist with department initiatives to enhance employee engagement, including, but not limited to:
- Uploading and updating content and layout for ITS Operations’ SharePoint site
- Production of our monthly staff newsletter
- Employee recognition initiatives, event coordination, and preparation
- Assist with preparing reports for analysis and distribution
- Assist with creating draft presentations using tools such as PowerPoint
- Assist with developing and distributing department communications and other correspondence
- Assist with gathering requirements for assigned projects, including organizing the information, conducting research, and reporting on industry best practices and solutions
- Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing meeting minutes, and developing documentation
- Ensure that documents are stored securely, depending on their type (hard copy vs. electronic)
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a current student at the University of Washington
- Mid-level skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, with a strong interest in learning and using technology that supports the ITS Operations’ goal of sharing information transparently and in user-friendly methods
DESIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Concise and effective writing skills and attention to detail
- Solid organizational skills
- Ability to communicate with all levels of individuals, including management/leadership
- Demonstrated experience conducting effective research, cite resources, and build and modify reports, typically using mid to advanced levels of Excel
- Proficiency in full Microsoft Suite, including SharePoint Online
- Experience using graphic creation tools such as Canva
