We are looking for an exceptional Human Resources leader to serve as the Principal HRBP for the Automated Reasoning team within Amazon's Agentic AI organization. This role demands someone who thrives at the intersection of deep technical talent and business strategysomeone who can earn trust with distinguished scientists and engineers while driving the people strategy for this deeply critical team.

The AR team is scaling rapidly as demand for provably correct AI systems accelerates across Amazon and AWS. The Principal HRBP must be able to work independently, establish and execute long- and short-term people strategies, and interface effectively with professionals at all levelsfrom early-career researchers to distinguished scientists and VPs. You will need the ability to function in an innovative, intellectually demanding, and often ambiguous environment where the work product is research translated into production systems.

The Automated Reasoning (AR) team at Amazon is pioneering one of the most consequential frontiers in artificial intelligence: using mathematical logic and formal verification to make AI systems provably correct. The AR team operates at the intersection of formal mathematics, neurosymbolic AI, and large-scale production systemsbuilding technology that solves some of AI's biggest challenges.

This is a high-visibility, high-impact team of world-class scientists and engineersmany with PhDs in formal methods, logic, and programming languagesworking on problems that are genuinely novel and deeply technical. The culture is intellectually rigorous, mission-driven, and fast-moving.


Key job responsibilities
- Partner with AR leadership to develop talent strategy that supports team growth while maintaining the deeply technical, research-driven culture that makes the team exceptional
- Drive organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and talent management for a global team of scientists and engineers working across formal methods, neurosymbolic AI, and production systems
- Coach leaders on career development, leadership practices, and managing highly specialized technical talent (PhDs, distinguished engineers, research scientists) whose work spans academic research and production deployment
- Develop and implement retention and engagement strategies for a globally competitive talent pool where researchers are heavily recruited by peer companies (Google DeepMind, Microsoft Research, Meta FAIR)
- Lead talent reviews and succession planning focused on building the pipeline of future AR leaders and ensuring organizational health in a rapidly scaling team
- Analyze business metrics and org health data to make recommendations that improve performance, capability, and the employee experience for a research-oriented organization
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to refine hiring strategies for the exceptionally specialized AR talent market (formal methods, theorem proving, programming languages, mathematical logic)
- Provide compensation guidance to leaders, including navigating complex offers for highly sought-after research talent in a competitive global market
- Lead or contribute to cross-team PXT projects that advance the broader AGI organization's people strategy

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or above, or 5 years of equivalent experience
- 10 years of leadership work as an HR generalist, preferably in a high tech environment experience
- Experience coaching senior leaders and managers with strong talent assessment skills
- Experience supporting highly technical or research-focused organizations

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree or above in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related field
- Experience establishing credibility quickly with senior level executives across organizations
- Experience delivering complex, data-driven recommendations to senior leaders
- Experience working with global teams and diverse partners
- HRBP experience supporting PhD-heavy or research-oriented teams (AI/ML, formal methods, applied math, or related fields)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
