Job Description

Who we’re looking for:

The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology in Seattle, WA has a fantastic opportunity for a Phlebotomist with the Phlebotomy & Specimen Processing Services Team at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) – Montlake.

UWMC is an acute care academic medical center with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest. As a phlebotomist, you will serve our patient community directly by performing blood draws and providing instruction on proper collection of urine specimens. Additionally, you will support students and new employees by providing orientation and training, in addition to other duties outlined below.

Work schedule:

  • Intermittent
  • Schedules to be discussed with the hiring manager
  • Evening shift

What you’ll contribute:

  • Prepare patient and collection equipment.
  • Perform phlebotomy on patients of all ages.
  • Instruct patients on proper collection of urine specimens.
  • Perform laboratory testing procedures.
  • Interact with patients and their families, as well as departmental and hospital staff.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of students and new employees
  • Perform related duties as required.

What you’ll need:

  • High school graduation AND completion of a phlebotomy course.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
  • Legal Requirement: Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy Certification (MA-P) with the Washington State Department of Health OR obtain the MA-P within 60 days of start date.
